Clouds don’t rain here (2026) questions the immaterial metaphors of the digital, such as “cloud” or “stream,” which obscure their grounding in physical infrastructures. Drawing on files from a private cloud, the work translates data into hex code and reconfigures it into sculptural form. What appears as visual noise condenses into a kind of “digital fossil,” indexing processes of storage, accumulation, and memory.
While the frontal view evokes falling rain, a lateral perspective reveals a mirrored hexagonal structure, suggesting a correspondence between organic and technological orders. Aluminium droplets disrupt the visual field, destabilizing perception and foregrounding the infrastructural and material conditions of the digital.
Rather than producing images or landscapes, this “digital rain” generates traces, archives, and subjectivities.
