"Earthly Edits" is an exploration of landscape as a social construct, guided by the motto "Landscape sponsored by tourism". The project examines how human activities such as tourism alter and adapt landscapes to various needs. It delves into the values deemed socially desirable, the maintenance of idealized images, and the fulfillment of desires. Emphasizing the close relationship between humans and landscapes/spaces, it acknowledges that while humans are physically smaller, they wield greater power. The concept of "beauty" is often socially constructed, influencing how landscapes are perceived as beautiful, relaxing, stressful, or uncomfortable.
Throughout history, landscapes have been modified to accommodate human needs. The focus lies on the human being at the center of a socio-constructivist perspective, bearing responsibility for shaping the landscape. Landscape emerges from physical and social interaction, being subjectively readable and individually experiential. It is considered not only a social but also an aesthetic construct, open to diverse interpretations and evaluations. Landscape is an omnipresent part of human daily life, and engaging with it initiates a dialogue with its atmosphere. The aim is not merely to observe landscapes but also to actively experience them.
